RE: The tariff classification of Acetanilide (CAS # 103-84-4) from Germany
Dear Mr. Chivini:
In your letter dated February 16, 1999, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The applicable subheading for Acetanilide, also known as N-Phenylacetamide, will be 2924.29.1000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Carboxyamide-function compounds; amide-function compounds of carbonic acid: Cyclic amides (including cyclic carbamates) and their derivatives; salt thereof: Other: Aromatic: Acetanilide..... The rate of duty will be 1.8 cents per kilogram plus 12.3 percent ad valorem.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
